1) Completing High School Education:
This refers to the education received up to the Matric or O levels. It is essential to choose biology as a major in order to obtain a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery. Choosing biology in your matric or O levels will provide you with a basic understanding of all the processes that occur in the body.
2) Intermediate/FSc. Pre-Medical:
Since gynecologists are medical experts, it is mandatory to choose FSc. Pre-Medical or science subjects (Chemistry/Biology/Physics) during your A levels. This is compulsory because universities and colleges that offer the degree of medical sciences (MBBS) only accept students with these degrees. The merit of these medical universities is very high and you need to score up to 90% to get admission in these universities.
3) The Entrance Exam:
In Pakistan, there are a few medical institutes, but students outnumber them. As a result, competition is fierce in this industry. Universities hold admissions tests to select the best students for the medical profession. You must prepare for and pass the MDCAT if you are from Punjab. However, if you are from KPK, you must apply for the ETEA exam. These exams are required for admission to public and some private medical schools. 7) Post-Graduation Training:
In Pakistan, you can get fellowship training in 75 specialties and membership in 22 disciplines. To become a gynecologist, you can start fellowship training in gynecology by clearing the exam of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. The fellowship training is of 4 years after clearing the part 1 exam, whereas the membership training is for 2 years. You can also do MS in gynecology by giving the exams and doing practice for 5 years.
On the other hand, you can also get membership and fellowship of the Royal College of Gynecology & Obstetrics by giving the exams and doing training in the gynecology department of hospitals.
