Eid-ul-Adha or Bakra Eid is the time of the year when animals including cow, goat, sheep, and camel sacrificed in the name of Allah. After performing this religious duty every one of us indulges ourselves in meat feast. Fulfilling our religious obligation is okay but when it comes to eating meat and other delicacies, there are some serious health concerns. And heartburn is on top of that! Your diet plays a major role in deciding the occurrence of heartburn. Therefore it is important to keep an eye on your Eid menu. You shouldn’t consider these 5 types of foods that cause heartburn.
1.Acidic Food In Nature:
Foods those are acidic in nature must be avoided on Eid. Well! all kinds of meat are high protein and acidic in nature. So, if you think you have a weak gut then avoid meaty dishes or at least consume less. Other than this certain legumes and fruits like oranges and grapefruits are acidic on an empty stomach and this can trigger acidity and heartburn.
2.Sugary Food Items:
Although it is not a “Meethi Eid” but still it’s Eid and we eat more sugary food items on such occasions. According to doctors, extremely sugary food items triggers acidity in most people. You should even skip carbonated drinks and sodas because they are filled with sugar and can spike acidity in your stomach.
3.Onions And Garlic:
There are merely one or two Pakistani dishes in which we don’t use onion and garlic. Otherwise, they are most commonly used in every dish. These foods have a very high acid content that can create an imbalance in your stomach. And your body also takes longer to digest them.
4.Spicy Food:
Barbeque and that too spicy is the actual fun on Bakra Eid. Too much paprika, vinegar, and chilly is what makes the food tangy. But it can also threaten the lining of your stomach and lead to heartburn. If you think you can’t resist yourself over spicy food then try to switch the milder version of the same dish. That’s a bonus tip, thank me later!
5.Caffeinated Beverages:
Tea and coffee work as a fuel to help us keep going well with the late night sitting gossips on Eid. It gives us energy and that’s what we want on Eid. But too much caffeine stimulates the production of acid in the stomach and can make the situation worse for you. However, if you’re one of those people who are more prone to heartburn then you must avoid it.
Just be conscious of what you eat on Eid and you are all set to celebrate this occasion to your best. In case, you have any trouble absorbing and digesting food then consult with the best gastroenterologist in your town.
