Did you ever feel pain in your hand while opening a jar, lifting a baby, or even texting? Well, I’ve experienced this and for me, it is more than just annoying. It’s just so frustrating when the stiffness and swelling in your hand diminish your ability to carry out ordinary hand movements, routine functions, and daily house chores. This crippling hand pain may result from the inflammation of the tissue or osteoarthritis. If you’re experiencing pain in your hand, then try out these 4 exercises to reduce your discomfort.
1. Make A Fist:
Gently bend your hand into a fist and place your thumb on the outside of your hand. Make sure, you don’t squeeze your hand. Just do this exercise for at least 10 times a day, you can do this anywhere at any time when your hand feels stiff.
2.Bend Your Fingers:
It is another simplest exercise that will help ease your pain. You just have to straight your hand and bend your thumb down toward your palm. Hold it for a couple of seconds and then straighten your thumb back. Now, bend your index finger toward your palm. Hold it for a couple of seconds and straighten it back. Repeat this exercise with each finger.
3. Make And “O” With Your Hand:
I think it’s so obvious how to do this exercise. You just have to curve all your fingers inward until they touch and form the shape of an “O”. Hold this position for a few seconds and then straighten your finger back again. You can do this stretch whenever your hands feel achy and stiff.
4.Finger Lift:
Place your hand flat on a table. Then starting from your thumb, lift each finger slowly off the table. Lift one finger at a time for a second or two and then lower it. Repeat this exercise 5 times a day for better results.
These exercises are very simple and easy, you can practice any of them anywhere at any time of the day. If you often experience crippling hand pain then make these exercises part of your daily routine. If these exercises don’t work for you, talk to your doctor. He may suggest you consult with the physiotherapist, who can recommend more specific exercises for you or other better treatments to help to reduce your pain.
